The Moray Youth Media Project

The Moray Youth Media Project is an exciting and new scheme for young people to get experience with audio and video.

We are looking for people to work in front of the camera/microphone and behind it, operating the recording equipment and editing the results.

We have some projects already defined, but equally, we are looking for individuals or groups of young people to come up with ideas for projects that they can take forward with expert guidance from media professionals. This could be a podcast topic, a standalone video, or a mini-series.

Memories of Moray

Our first project is live and we are looking for people between the ages of 13 and 25 to take part in gathering oral histories. This requires contacting people you know, or strangers (with support), over the age of 60, and asking them questions about their childhood memories.

You will record their responses using modern audio recorders and mixers, and full tuition will be given. You can do this over the internet, or face-to-face. You can be involved with the editing, or leave that part to us, and it will be published as part of a podcast series.

You’ll be guided every step of the way, and the skills you learn can often be put to good use in the workplace.

There is no requirement to have any previous experience, or to be a confident speaker, you’ll learn these as you go along.

The project manager is Marc Hindley, a director with Moray Local CIC, and registered for PVG with Disclosure Scotland.

Please fill in the form below to get started. If you simply want to ask a question before registering, please email Marc on mymedia@moraylocal.org

Moray Local CIC is grateful to Newbold Legacy Trust for funding part of this project.
